Double the Delight...

Since I've been seriously slacking on updating, I've decided to double your pleasure with another post.

As mentioned previously, I've been swamped with work...and I'm happy about it. However, in the midst of it, I've been making some time for fun.

I went to a show at Whole World Improv Theatre with my girl N. We got massages, drank wine, indulged in a little soul food and did a lot of laughing. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the experience of actually giving suggestions of things that they used in the show.

I've also been to a movie. Took a little munchkin to see Where the Wild Things are. I had to give her a pep talk on the drive over because she was a little scared of going to the movies. She was in big girl mode once we got there and was ready to finally see the movie she'd been bragging about seeing to me and anyone who would listen EVERY time the commercial came on. Loaded with a snack pack of popcorn, candy and juice, we took our seats and waited for the film to start. The movie wasn't what I expected, but I liked it. I thought that it would be more like the book, but they had to create a story line that ended up being very appropriate, especially for the times we are living in and covered real life situations that kids and people deal with. Although it was a bit sad and dark to me...I even shed a tear at the end. Most of the movie went over lil mama's head, but she liked it and that's all that counts.  Not to mention that I really enjoyed spending time with her.

Guess who got a little wild and dressed up for Halloween?

This girl <---- !!!

My boy invited me to his Halloween house party, so I got to shopping (in my closet and at thrift stores) for my get up. I dressed up as a Cow Girl...but didn't find a cowboy hat. I know, I know...that was wack, but I searched high and low for one. Oh well, I will come with it next year fa sho! At least I got to rock my fringe boots and party with some good and fun people.

Next up, I'm looking forward to Turkey Day. I'll be right here in town and will be house hopping. Can't wait to sample all of the delicious fare!

More than that, I'm counting down for Christmas. My family will all be together again and I can't wait! My brothers, sister and niece, Cupcake, will be in attendance. I miss all of them like crazy and am soooo looking forward to family time and spoiling the newest addition to la familia. It's going to be a great time as always and I will be blogging about it for sure...with photos to boot.

And introducing the new addition...Cupcake!

Auntie wasn't the only one who dressed up for Halloween....

In the meantime, I hope to explore some new scenes around town so that I'll have some lively times to blog about for you.

Sooo sorry for the delay! The few blog fans that I do have are on me about updating more often. I've been busy with work (which is good) but I really need to make it a habit of updating this thing at least once a week. Just don't know exactly what to write about. I would love to know what you'd like to read about, so leave a comment with suggestions.

Last time I blogged I was in sunny Sarasota. The Ringling Arts Festival was interesting...to say the least. I didn't know what to expect at all, so I ended up being surprised by some of the shows. I visited the Ringling Estate and was overwhelmed by the gorgeousness of the home, which was modeled after Venetian architecture. The mini circus was incredible and extremely detailed. Didn't see any real circus people tho. I will be sure to partake in the circus offerings the next time I visit.

The highlight for me was seeing Mikhail Baryshnikov there. He played Carrie's boo, Aleksandr Petrovsky, in Sex and the City. He was a festival sponsor.

I also enjoyed a few good restaurants like The Bijou Café.  The cuisine is a mix of French, South African and American. The duck and piri piri shrimp were bomb! Try it if you're ever in town.

I fit in some me time with my mom as well. She drove down to join me for a show and spent the next day with me. We walked up and down Lido Beach and got some sun and just caught up. We also explored St. Armand's Circle, which has lots of cute boutiques, restaurants and cafés. She gifted me with a cute straw purse and lunch and cocktails at the historic Cuban spot, The Columbia Restaurant. Oh how I love my mom!

I can't forget about my visit to the Jungle! Well not exactly...we went to Jungle Gardens and actually got up close and personal with a few feathered friends...real live flamingos (which scared me a little) and lots of Toucan Sams. It was hot as hell but I'm glad I got to experience.

Can you see how close Pinky was to me?

Overall, Sarasota was a nice getaway! I expected lots of old people, and there were but I found more to the town than that. I'd be down to visit again and do some more exploring.

Sunkisses to you all...Tam
